SPRINGFIELD—MassMutual has been recognized by Junior Achievement (JA) as a 2014-2015 U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award recipient.
MassMutual is receiving the President’s Volunteer Service Award at the bronze level for providing more than 5,000 volunteer hours during the year.
MassMutual partners with Junior Achievement across the markets it serves through the company’s FutureSmartSM Challenge, which educates middle school students about smart money management. The program is arranged in conjunction with select NBA teams to present interactive seminars where students learn the importance of savings, career choices, staying in school and going to college, and how each has a profound impact on their future financial success. The program extends a long-time collaboration with Junior Achievement to provide additional financial education in the classroom, and brings MassMutual’s LifeBridgeSM Free Life Insurance program to the cities that the Challenge visits to provide income eligible families with free term life insurance that protects their children’s education.
In addition to the FutureSmart Challenge, MassMutual’s employees and financial professionals across the country lend their time to volunteer in classrooms to teach students various JA curriculum. For example, in Springfield, MA, the headquarters for MassMutual, volunteers teach programs such as JA Economics for Success, JA Personal Finance and volunteer at the JA Stock Market Competition.
“We are grateful to Junior Achievement for recognizing MassMutual’s efforts in moving the needle on financial literacy for today’s youth,” said Nick Fyntrilakis, Vice President, Community Responsibility, MassMutual. “Our long-time partnership with JA and the dedication of our employees and financial professionals have helped thousands of students understand the importance of using money wisely, hopefully setting them on the path to financial success.”Watch Full Movie Online Streaming Online and Download
President George W. Bush established the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation in 2003 to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers make in communities and to encourage more people to serve. The Council created the President’s Volunteer Service Award program to thank and honor Americans, who inspire others by their demonstrated commitment and example. In 2006, Junior Achievement became an official certifying organization for this award, which recognizes corporations with a U.S. presence that provide volunteers to teach JA programs.
“Junior Achievement volunteers are important mentors for young people, bringing our programs to life. JA volunteers share their experiences and skills with students while delivering our programs, teaching them how to manage their money, succeed in the workforce, or start a business that creates jobs and helps the economy grow. JA’s volunteers are critical to our organization’s success and are a vital part of our mission and JA of Western Massachusetts is proud to partner with MassMutual to inspire our youth to own their economic future,” said Jennifer Connolly, JA of Western Massachusetts Area President.
